After graduating high school and once I obtained a few summers of junior college, I worked as an electrician's apprentice in Chicago IBEW local 134. I had a total of two years in the electrical trade.

After junior college, I entered the US Army for officers training and pilot training. I was awarded my bars and wings in June of 1968 and served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. I was honorably discharged from the military in 1971.

I was then employed by Eberson Roofing and Sheet Metal and had over a year's experience doing roofing, flat and shingle work. After pursuing roofing, I went back to following a career path as a pilot and was hired with Northwest Airlines in 1977 and retired
in 2007. At that time I was flying internationally all over Europe and Asia. I retired at the mandatory retirement age.

Mold InspectorDuring my aviation career, I had personally remodeled four homes and one four-family apartment building. I took lead on all maintenance and improvements including meeting with code inspectors to have work signed off.

In 1990, I general contracted a new 4000-square foot home for my family in Rockford, Illinois. In 1982, I started a woodworking company and grew it from a basement operation to a 26,000 square foot factory with 30 employees. I was involved with the design of the patterns and jigs for production work. We designed the shop layout as well as purchasing the building and remodeling for our production facility.

As an airline pilot, I was constantly studying electrical, pneumatics and hydraulics as well as the other engineering and sciences that go along with being a pilot. I have been working with machines, building and remodeling my whole life and as a Home Inspector I hope to be able to put my knowledge to use for you and help you protect your most valuable investment.

Sincerely,

John T. Marqua

Following high school graduation, I attended a course held at Withlacoochee Technical College for the electrical trade, where I met the requirements to fulfill my status as an Electricians Helper. Shortly after I was hired to work on the 2008 power outage at the Crystal River Nuclear site in which I maintained a safety position during my time.

In 2009 I was hired by a local sporting company by the name of DRC Sports; where I worked as the Lead Web Developer for just shy of two years. Acting as the lead developer in addition to three years of prior education in computer programing and practices helped sharpen my eye for detail which has worked beneficially for me during my home inspections.

In 2014, I was hired by John Marqua to assist him with daily reports and office maintenance. That summer I began joining in at inspections as an assistant. I attended the American Home Inspectors Training Institute from the fall of 2014 to the summer of 2015 completing all required elements to becoming a Licensed Home Inspector. To date, I have completed over 600+ inspections with John, and 100+ on my own.

I consider John Marqua my mentor as to what an excellent Home Inspector should be and strive to follow in his footsteps and diligence with my own inspections to bring each and every client the highest of quality with our reports. I look forward to working with you.

Growing up in Tallahassee, Florida, I attended grade school and started high school at Florida High before graduating from Sarasota High in 1996. Over the next two decades I followed a couple of different interesting career paths. I was a salesman for Konica-Minolta in Sarasota, growing a territory from less than 100 clients to 300. I worked as a government manufacturer representative for Motorola selling two-way radios and 911 systems. My first year I sold $890,000 worth of product. Over the next couple years, I met my wife and enrolled to further my education locally at the College of Central Florida

I have my Associate’s degree in Business Administration and I am currently enrolled at College of Central Florida studying to receive my Bachelor’s degree in Business and Organizational Management. While at CF, I received awards for the honors society (Phi Theta Kappa) and numerous business related awards. I worked at CF in a few different departments: the printing room, the maintenance department, and also the tutoring department teaching algebra.

I have been working with John T. Marqua since the Spring of 2017. I have learned many of the new trade skills of being a home inspector, and am passionate for marketing this company. Informing new clients about the high standards and innovative techniques that bring peace of mind to all of our customers is something that I am dedicated to in a professional and personable manner.

In the near future, I will become a Licensed Home Inspector, as well as a Certified Residential Thermographer. By utilizing the Digital Infrared camera for our clients, we provide state-of-the-art home inspections.

Sincerely,

John W. Betts
